Engagement of Private Sector Healthcare Entities for provision of Healthcare Services

In line with the Principal of Universal Healthcare for all members of the society as per their constitutional rights, besides setting up public sector healthcare facilities, it has been providing grants to private healthcare facilities in the past to provide free of cost healthcare services.

Realizing the importance of sustainable development work guided through a well-regulated framework, GoPb, through Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, has notified a Policy for Selection of Private Sector Healthcare Entities for Providing Healthcare Services, whereby the GoPb shall procure pre-defined Healthcare Services from the private sector healthcare entities, in line with the global trends of engaging the private sector for efficient healthcare service delivery.

Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department (“SH&MED”) has mandated Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (“PHIMC”) to engage private sector healthcare entities under the aforementioned policy of Gopb.

Currently, public sector Healthcare Facilities stand extremely overcrowded with bed occupancy ratio. To effectively intervene and provide immediate relief for healthcare services, PHIMC desires to engage Healthcare Facilities owned by the Private Sector Healthcare Entities to utilize their existing and unutilized resources, capacities, expertise and facilities to provide both specialized and general Healthcare Services initially in priority areas of Lahore.

In the light of this notion, the PHIMC shall partner with private healthcare entities pursuant to the approval of the government.
