Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card / Sehat Sahulat Program Details

For the province of Punjab, the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company has been mandated by the Specialized Health Care and Medical Education Department for execution /implementation of Sehat Sahulat Programme on its behalf. The SSP program’s objective is to improve access of the population to good quality medical services, through a micro health insurance scheme.

Currently, underprivileged population (poor population, special persons and transgender community) in 25 districts of the Punjab, and all population of 11 districts of Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal divisions is eligible to receive healthcare facilities through Sehat Sahulat Program. 

Government of the Punjab intends to provide free health coverage to all population of Punjab province soon.

Salient Features

The salient features of the Program for Punjab are as follows:   

  • The program provides two distinct packages:
    • Secondary care coverage for hospitalization up to Rs. 60,000 per family per year
    • Coverage for major priority diseases for hospitalization up to 400,000 per family per year
  • The coverage could be extended up to Rs. 1,000,000 under special circumstances.  
  • The provision of services to the beneficiaries is executed through insurance company.
  • All hospitalizations will be covered except for the exclusions agreed with the Insurance Company.
  • The beneficiary can go to any empaneled hospital across the country.
  • No capping on family size.
  •  Pre-existing diseases are covered.
  • Coverage on yearly basis to all age groups.
  •  Both public and private healthcare facilities provisionally licensed by Punjab Healthcare Commission are entitled for empanelment in the scheme.
  •  Inter-district portability is also available.
  •  One day pre and Five days post hospitalization expenses including the medicine are covered.

Underprivileged segments of population in all districts of Punjab are enjoying quality healthcare services without any financial barriers. The program is set to cover entire population of the Punjab under Universal Health Insurance soon.
