Overview
The Punjab Health Initiative Management Company has been established under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017 after approval of the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab. The main task of the PHIMC is to execute social health protection initiatives, demand side financing schemes including pro-poor health insurance schemes and collaboration with private sector to provide universal health coverage.
 
Implementation of Sehat Sahulat Program (SSP) in Punjab
For the province of Punjab, the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company has been mandated by the Specialized Health Care and Medical Education Department for execution /implementation of SSP on its behalf. The SSP program’s objective is to improve access of the poor population to good quality medical services, through a micro health insurance scheme. Population under approx. 32.5 of the Proxy Means Test (2 USD) in 17 districts of Punjab is being covered.
In first phase, the program is benefiting 5.46 million individuals in the selected districts of Rahim Yar Khan, Khanewal, Narowal and Sargodha. In the second phase, the program has been extended to 09 more districts of Punjab that include Layyah, Bhakkar, Khushab, Vehari, Hafizabad, Mianwali, Lodhran, Bahawalnagar & Bahawalapur districts, benefiting 7.35 million individuals. Rest of the province will be covered under the program soon.
